First time i’ve seen that many pitchers used without it going to some ridiculous amount of extra innings, you usually rely on your opening pitcher to go at least 6 innings, some can even pitch a full game and then the bullpen comes in to mop up the remainder.
Doesnt help when both starting pitchers were yanked inside the first inning

Balls remain use until it's fouled off and caught by a fan, or a home run and retrieved by a fan, or a ball in the dirt that has scuff marks on it, otherwise the ball remains in play. If the home run is a significant milestone for that batter, the ball is returned to him and the fan gets a new ball

The balls aren’t in continuous use so that is not an explanation The pitching was abysmal... any sensible reason?

Sven Roeder 11:55 Sun Jun 30 Re: NY Yankees v Boston Red Sox Any explanation as to why the pitching was so shit requiring both teams to go right through their roster of chuckers?
And how many of them won’t be able to play today after just ‘bowling’ a couple of overs on Saturday?

Sven- only thing I can think of is that the view for the pitchers was a bit unfamiliar and 'threw' them somewhat pardon the pun- i.e. the acres of foul territory behind the plate probably looks a bit weird compared to what they are used to.
Other factors could have been trying too hard for accuracy because of the slightly shortened centre outfield or going back to the foul territory situation, the knowledge that a wild pitch which goes past the catcher will be very costly. Or simply the fact that it was so hot and sticky, though I am sure they face similar conditions in the US summer heat all the time...
Definitely something though, because it was interesting the way so many of them struggled rather than just one.

FC- yeah I know. I've watched hundreds of games. Although most Yanks/Sox games go for about 3.30 ish.
But I'm confident it'll be ok.

9 innings is the minimum which translates to roughly 3 hours

It's a bit unusual for 2 consecutive games that go for more than 12 innings, you should be OK Scorch

They usually sell both bottles and pints. Bottles a bit cheaper.
Mental game last night. Hope it’s a good one today but not as long. I’ve got a flight to catch tonight so I’ll be gutted if I have to leave before it’s over.
